NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Yemi Akangbe Mourns Ngozi Okonkwo, Oando Plc Chief Legal Officer
It is with great sadness that I announce to members of the NBA Lagos Branch (the Branch), the untimely demise of Mrs. Ngozi Okonkwo (Née Chinwuba). Mrs. Ngozi Okonkwo was until her demise the Chief Legal Officer of Oando Plc. She was a very committed member of the Branch and one of the most supportive in-house counsel members of the Branch.
Ngozi was a member of the the 2017 and 2018 Law Dinner Committee of the Branch and, as I understand it, played very important roles during her service to the Branch in her capacity as member of the respective Dinner Committees. She participated, as a resource person and tutor, in many NBA capacity development seminars. Before assuming the role of Chief Legal Officer of Oando plc, she was Head, Legal Services of the company, responsible for legal supervisory oversight over the two upstream entities in the Group, one downstream entity and all projects at the parent company level.
Prior to joining Oando, Ngozi worked with F.O Akinrele & Co. and KPMG Professional Services (previously know as Arthur Andersen) as Manager in the Tax, Regulatory and People Services unit and Head of indirect tax services, providing advice and compliance services to oil and gas and independent power producing companies and provision of legal secretarial services to private companies. Ngozi was an Alumni of the University of Nigeria and member of many professional bodies.
Our condolences go to her husband and children. Our condolences go to her brother, our colleague, Emeka Chinwuba, a partner at McKenzie’s, New York office and also to our members who are Alumni of University of Nigeria, especially those who were in school with her.
May her soul rest in peace.
