JUSTICE FOR LATE MISS UWA: A CLARION CALL FOR ACTION – OKEY OHAGBA

It is with great pain that I received the news of the gang rape and gruesome murder of Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 level undergraduate of the University of Benin.
While I express my deepest condolences to the family of the late Miss Uwaila, I lend my voice to the clarion call by well meaning Nigerians that the murder of this promising child should not be swept under the carpet nor treated with kids gloves as usual.
I understand one of the suspects has been arrested by the security agencies via forensic investigation. While I applaud the security agencies for this feat, I urge them not to rest on their oars until substantial justice is secured for the late Miss Uwa. Their breakthrough with this investigation would surely send signals to these hoodlums that their waterloo is near. It is a clarion for action.
This ugly incident is yet another wake up call on the Government to do more in that constitutional obligation of protecting lives and property of her citizenry. These beasts must face the consequences of their evil deeds.
