To Those Now Locked-Down: A Word of Encouragement – By Alex Muoka
I send words of encouragement to our friends and colleagues in Bauchi, Borno, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Osun, Rivers and Taraba States, as you face another day of total lockdown or restricted movement.
The Covid-19 Pandemic has impacted our lives and livelihoods in myriad ways and we have been constrained to adapt to a new reality. Lockdown is a humbling experience – the confrontation of our worst fears of curtailed movement and isolation.
There is a positive side, however. Lockdown gives us valuable time for introspection, meditation, education, and a deeper connection with family and loved ones. With isolation comes a better appreciation of the things that are really of import, a disdain of vain expectations, and a realisation of our very small place in the larger scheme of things.
Some of us have recently come out of five weeks of lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the FCT. We survived it…and so will you.
So I urge you to follow the directives of the Government and stay-at-home, wear your face-masks and maintain social distancing if you are compelled to go out.
Be of good cheer. We will overcome together, AND this too shall pass!
