Unanimity of Purpose as The Lion Bar Adopts Olumide Akpata Esq., as its Sole Candidate for Election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch.
It was a unanimous decision on Sunday the 8th of March, 2020 on the March 2020, Monthly Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association Benin Branch, which held at the newly christained Justice Constance Momoh Hall of the NBA Benin Bar House, as the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin Branch (the Lion Bar), adopted Olumide Akpata Esq., as its sole candidate for Election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
Under an Agenda of Meeting tagged “Any Other Business-AOB”, the Chairman of the Lion Bar-Prince Collins Benson Ogiegbaen AICMC, set the ball rolling by asking Members to comment on the Stand of the Branch on the ongoing consultations for the Presidency of the NBA.
Ede Asenoguan Esq, immediate past Chairman of the Lion Branch indicated that “one of our own”, Olumide Akpata has been having unrivalled national presence consulting on the Presidency of the Association, this comment was received with applause and acclaim from Members.
Ede Asenoguan Esq., then moved a Motion, that the NBA Benin Branch – the Lion Bar, should adopt Olumide Akpata Esq., as its sole candidate for Election into the Office of the President of the NBA. This Motion was seconded by Andrew Lawani Esq. There was no Counter Motion .The Chairman despite this, following democratic norms ,put the issue to vote and Members unanimously voted for Olumide Akpata Esq., to be adopted as the sole candidate for Election as President of the Nigerian Bar Association amid an ovation of approval.
Later in a Forum after the Meeting,at the NBA Benin Bar House same day, the Chairman of the Lion Bar, the Lion himself-Prince Collins Benson Ogiegbaen AICMC, extolled the sterling qualities of Olumide Akpata which stand him out from the Pack and which has endeared him to all sundry. They include but are not limited to accessibility, humility, deep knowledge and understanding of the Bar and its activities, being a stickler for due process,an advocate of appropriate renumeration for young Lawyers ,innovativeness and resourcefulness in Administration and Varied Competencies.
The Lion has indeed roared loud and clear and the Bar have heard the Roar far and wide .
