NBA to Inaugurate New Trustees Soon, Members to Access Stamp and Seal Online
The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Mr. Paul Usoro SAN on Thursday promised to inaugurate the new trustees of the association who were appointed during the NBA conference in August 2019 very soon.
He stated this while at the on going National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at Abuja.
Usoro was responding to an observation by a former General Secretary of the association, Mr. Dele Adesina SAN, who drew the attention of the president to the fact.
The President stated that he would not only inaugurate the new trustees, but will also organise a Dinner for both the former and present trustees to interract, interface and rob minds together for the interest of the Bar.
The NBA appointed the new Dr. Olisa Agbakoba SAN led board of trustees at the last conference in August 2019. Other members of the committee are former Presidents of the NBA, Joseph Bodunrin Daudu (SAN), Augustine Alegeh (SAN), a former General Secretary of the NBA, Obafemi Adewale, and Hajia Fatima Kwaku.
Meanwhile, members of the NBA can now apply and get their practice Stamp and Seals through the associations new website, according to Usoro.
NBA Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Officer, Mr. Umar Gezawa gave the link to the website as( https://nigerianbar.org.ng/)
He stated that each user has a unique profile which will enable him or her to make automatic payments for Bar Practicing Fees and conveniently order for their Stamp and Seal.
He stated that the system makes room for verification of stamp and Seal before they are approved and delivered. “The verification process will also be enabled on the website” Gezawa stated
The President urged members who have not been verified to get it done as it would the help the NBA to develop a database for eligible lawyers. He equally announced free verification exercise for all members of the association henceforth.
The President also stated that three sets of circulars will be disseminated to sensitize members on the website informing them of the new development and how to procure their stamp and Seal through the website.
He stated that application for Stamp and seals would first be sent to branch Chairmen for approval and after one week, if they fail to approve, then there will be rerouting to the National Secretariat for approval.
Applicants are to upload their Bar Practicing Fee receipts and branch dues receipts as these are the requirements for stamp and Seal application” Usoro stated.
