Ondo Judiciary New Legal Year: Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, Calls For Quicker Dispensation Of Justice
The Managing Partner of S. P. A. Ajibade & Co. Dr. Babatunde Ajibade, SAN, has called on the judiciary to fashion modalities to ensure quicker dispensation of justice to meet the aspiration of litigants in the process of dispute resolution.
Speaking at a church service held in Akure, Ondo State to mark the beginning of the new legal year in the State, the Learned Silk urged all members of the third estate of the realm (the Judiciary) to continue to carry out their respective duties with the highest standards of integrity and dignity. He urged the members of the Ondo State Judiciary to shun all forms of corruption and abuse of the privileges of their offices.
Furthermore, Dr. Ajibade implored the members of the Bench to push for the proliferation of Courts and the creation of specialized Courts or Tribunals for the trial and determination of matters relating to special fields of law including intellectual property, telecommunication, aviation, maritime, et cetera.
He added, “At the just-concluded NBA Conference, a representative of the International Bar Association took a swipe at the Nigerian justice system for its notoriously snail-paced judicial approach.
This does not put the name of the Nigerian Bar and Bench in good light. I am convinced that this idea (creation of specialized Courts) in addition to an increase in the number of judges would inevitably improve the pace of justice dispensation in Nigeria.”
The church service was held at the St. David’s Anglican Church, Akure and was well attended by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, the Attorney-General, Local Government and other members of the Ondo State Bar and Bench.
