
Lagos Bar Election 2019: Yemi Akangbe Emerges Chairman
Lagos lawyer, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe has won the 2019 chairmanship election of the Lagos branch of the Nigerian Bar Association. In an online poll conducted among the members of the branch, Akangbe won with 440 votes, making up 56.8% of the total vote, beating his two closest opponents, Adebola Olarotimi Lema, who scored 311 votes (comprising 40.2% of total votes cast) and Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun, who polled 23 votes (comprising 3.0%). With this victory, Akangbe is set to pilot the affairs of the Premier branch for the next two years, replacing the incumbent, Chukwuka Ikwuazom and his outgoing executive.

In other election results, Okey Ilofolunwa won the vice-chairmanship, ahead of Chuks Nwanna and Bode Omoboriowo, while the secretary’s position was won by Moshood Abiola. Gloria Ngozi Eguonu won the position of Social Secretary, while Harry Ukaejiofor was elected Legal Adviser. Ifeoma Catherine Ben was elected Assistant Secretary.
The positions of Financial Secretary, Welfare Secretary, Publicity Secretary, Treasurer and Provost were respectively won by Chinenye Oragwu, Anthonia Enitan Eke, James Sonde, Foluke O. Akinmoladun – all of who ran unopposed.
