NBA Lagos Branch Holds June Monthly Meeting at the City Hall

The Monthly General meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch has been scheduled for Monday, June 10, 2019 at 2.30pm prompt at the Lagos City Hall, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island, Lagos.

It was announced that, “due to the expected large number of attendants and to the limited space of the Foyer of the Lagos State High Court, Igbosere, we have decided to change the meeting venue to the Lagos City Hall.

The meeting which is proudly sponsored by Mr. Yemi Akangbe, one of the candidate for the chairmanship position in the Branch’s forthcoming elections, has a renowned Maritime Expert, Chief Louis Mbanefo (SAN), as Special Guest and speaker of the day. Chief Mbanefo (SAN), will be speaking on the topic: ‘What is Maritime Law about?’

The workshop, which is a Continuous Legal Education programme of the Premier Bar, is to evaluate the current state-of-knowledge of young lawyers, and also provide a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on key maritime issues. All aspects of maritime law will be contemplated, from global to regional, observations and modelling, from the geological scale to the instrumental era and future projections and including impacts on the coastal zones.

The questions: What is Maritime Law About? Who Practices Admiralty Law? Why Become a Maritime Lawyer? Where Does Maritime Law Comes from? What are the General Principles of Maritime Law?

Because Maritime law is complex, Maritime lawyers also help develop new maritime laws. It involves a variety of civil laws including contract law, personal injury law, employment disputes and even lost treasure. For the attorneys who practice it, maritime law can provide a sound and challenging career.

Join Chief Louis Mbanefo (SAN), a Cambridge University Law graduate, whose area of specialization is being Maritime Law, and was one of the first Nigerian to practice in that field.

You don’t want to miss this.

Remember, the meeting will take place at the Lagos City Hall, Catholic Mission Street, Lagos, and prompt attendance will be appreciated.
