$8.4m charge, attempt to discredit Pinnick – Arewa youths
The Arewa Youths Assembly has slammed the OkoiObono-Obla-led Special Presidential Investigative Panel over a report which indicted Nigeria Football Federation’s president, Amaju Pinnick, over an alleged diversion of $8.4m FIFA fund.

Apart from Pinnick, the panel also indicted NFF vice presidents Seyi Akinwumi and Shehu Dikko, as well as general secretary, Mohammed Sanusi and a board member, Yusuf Ahmed Fresh, over the diversion of $8.4m FIFA paid NFF as Brazil 2014 World Cup appearance fee.
They were also indicted for another N4bn fund belonging to the federation, which was alleged to have been diverted as well.
At a press briefing in Kaduna, the Arewa Youths Assembly said the allegations were untrue and were meant to promote crisis in the NFF.
Speaker of the Arewa Youths Assembly, Mallam Mohammed Danlami, who addressed, newsmen on Tuesday evening, said, “Today our curiosity has been ignited by reports in the media against the person of Amaju Pinnick that he diverted $8.4m FIFA grant and N4bn from the NFF account without the consent of the football federation.
“We don’t support corruption, any form of embezzlement of public funds and any form of disorder. In spite of the collective resolve to battle corruption, every accused person is innocent before the law until proven otherwise. Amaju should be treated with the same guiding principle.
“For avoidance of doubt, the allegations are a collection of slanderous, malicious, mind-boggling rumours and a figment of the imagination of a cluster of individuals who have refused to come out of mediocrity and poverty of the mind, which has befallen them.
“It is a pity that a few disgruntled people in this jet age, when information is let out at the speed of lightening, will sit in the comfort of their homes to concoct and fabricate lies just to discredit a man who has worked tirelessly and is still working in the interest of the country.”
