Slain UNILAG Doctor, Only Son of a Widow
Dr. Urueye Stephen, a House Officer at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, University of Lagos, UNILAG who died barely 24 hours after his convocation, was alleged to be the only son of a widow.

Recall that Stephen aka Sarutobi was confirmed dead on Friday, after a robbery attack along Idi-Araba on his way to LUTH where he worked.
According to report from a reliable source, the said Medical doctor was the only son of his mother, a widow, who graduated on Wednesday, got paid and died on Friday.
The lady which said she had been victim of robbery attacks twice, and even escaped being raped on the same road leading to LUTH, explained that the said path has been a death trap owing to incessant accosting by armed robbers.
“For those asking he was robbed and stabbed close to LUTH. He struggled to LUTH gate before collapsing. They tried to save him but he eventually died. He just did his convocation on Wednesday this week, just received his salary and today (Friday) he is gone.
Continuing, she said, “His mother is a widow and worked hard to send him to school, and he is the only son”.
“I am specially angry because I was in his shoes not once but twice. It was by God’s grace I wasn’t raped or killed. I am just weak. It is too much to swallow. That area needs to do better. They rob a lot. That area needs to do better; people’s children aren’t safe at all.” The source lamented.
Another of his friend and former UNILAG SUG president, Adeyeye Olorunfemi, also took to Facebook to lament his colleague’ death which he blamed on government negligence.
Olorunfemi wrote, “And we lost Stephen. We lost this young Doctor who wants to save lives to insecurity. He died 24 hours after his graduation. After 8 years of struggle in the jungle called Nigeria. He was stabbed by armed robbers and died of stab wounds right in front of a government teaching hospital- LUTH. Stab wounds! “The medical students said they have always complained about the frequent robbery attacks around and on the College of Medicine, Idi-Araba Campus but the Management keep turning deaf ears.
“You know ‘noisemakers’ like us like to protest. But you don’t want to protest because you don’t want to die. Events have shown us that you don’t have to partake in any protest before you die in Nigeria. Just be a Nigerian!
We are all in this together.
My heart is heavy! This is sad! ” Olorunfemi stated.
