More than 70% of PH Members are Disenfranchised – Sylvester Adaka
The Port Harcourt Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association is displeased with the entire ongoing verification process of the NBA National Election.

Section 2.3 (D) of the second schedule to the NBA Constitution is very explicit on issues relating to ECNBA and the processes of Election. It is my strong belief that if the steps were adhered to, ECNBA would not experience the current issues currently bedeviling the Verification Exercise, which in turn has caused so much hardship on lawyers generally.
It is just a few days to the election and less than 30% of our members in NBA Port Harcourt Branch have been verified for the exercise as majority are already demoralized and discouraged. This may lead to the disenfranchisement of more than 70% of our members
It is my humble suggestion that where ECNBA is unable to achieve the requirement as envisaged in Section 2.4(C) of the Constitution, the Election should be postponed to a more convenient time and allows the provisions of Section 2.3(A) to apply accordingly.
Signed:
Sylvester A. N. Adaka, Chairman, NBA Port Harcourt Branch
