Sabastine Anyia, The Man with the Midas Touch – Answer Okoyar
Sabastine Anyia Esq, most often referred to as S. U Anyia Esq is from Cross River State. His parents wanted him to be a Catholic Priest, and thus, sent him to study in the Seminary school. But Providence had for him a different calling. Thus he left the Junior seminary to University to study law. His foundational training at the seminary, and strict parental upbringing best explain his honesty and Prudence in management of scarce resources.
He graduated from University of Maiduguri and attended the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He was called to the prestigious bar in 2003.
NYSC brought this young man to Anambra State, in 2003/2004, a state he has never been to prior to his NYSC days.
After his NYSC he remained in Anambra state to practice this beautiful profession.
This young man exhibited rare traits, candour and finesse uncommon of young lawyers of his time. Thus, his Principal entrusted bigger responsibilities on him and he expectedly did not disappoint his Principal.
In NBA Aguata branch, he brought uncommon transformation to the system. He started as a Young Lawyers’ Chairman,thereafter he served the branch in different capacities. He was, first, the Public Relations Officer of the branch, and was thereafter elected the Financial Secretary where the account of the branch experienced uncommon particularity.
He later served the branch as the Secretary and finally as the Chairman of the branch from 2014 to 2016. During his tenure, he completed and tastefully furnished the NBA Aguata Branch Bar Centre; named after Dr Alexander I Ekwueme; a lawyer and former Vice President of Nigeria.He launched the maiden Bar Journal of the branch: “The Front line Bar Journal”. His Administration led a vigorous campaign against abusers of lawyers’ car_emblem, and prosecuted car owners and drivers unlawfully using NBA Car stickers. He assisted young lawyers and gave the branch the deserved relevance within the comity of Bar Branches in Nigeria.
The branch, in appreciation of this young man with the Midas touch gave him the following awards : The Foot Soldier Award in 2012 and in 2016 “Excellence in governance award”.
