NBA-SBL Begins One Day Training, Free Participation at 2018 Business Law Confab for 100 Young Lawyers
As part of its mentoring programme for Young Lawyers in 2018 in the run-up to the 2018 annual Business Law Conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital, the Nigerian Bar Association’s Section on Business Law (NBA-SBL) on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 commenced its training programme for young lawyers.
The training programme, which is hosted and organized in conjunction with the International Bar Association (IBA), will benefit one hundred young lawyers also comes with a scholarship and free participation at the aforementioned Business Law Conference, which commences tomorrow (Wednesday, June 27, 2018) at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel in the federal capital.

SBL Chairman, Olumide Akpata had earlier disclosed that the one day conference, which was approved by NBA President, Abubakar B. Mahmoud, SAN, is titled “Fundamentals of International Legal Business Practice” and will cover areas of cross-border M&A transactions and arbitration as regards international trade. The technology segment is slated to be handled by Rotimi Ogunyemi. The session also features a dispute resolution segment as well as discussions on soft skills required of young lawyers in the ever-evolving practice of law. The event, Akpata added, was a very good source of networking for the young lawyers.

The scholarship offer, according to the SBL chair, is open only to with 1-7 post call experience level. He called on the beneficiaries to note that sponsorship covers only registration for the Conference and training as well as accommodation for those residing out of Abuja ONLY. Participants would be expected to handle their transportation to Abuja whilst transportation to and from venue centers is being handled by the NBA-SBL.
