The Chairman of the party, Chief Olajide Awe, told reporters at an interfaith prayer and thanksgiving service to mark his return to office after a forced absence occasioned by murder charge filed against him by the state government.

Awe, who was away  for almost three years hailed his deputy, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, other members of the Executive Committee and leaders at various levels for holding forte.

He said leaders at the national and zonal (Southwest) levels have been invited to come and talk to the aspirants that would be going into the primary.

The party chair said the national and Southwest leaders’ visit was aimed at prevailing on the aspirants to accept the result and work for whoever that emerges flagbearer.

He warned leaders against inviting aspirants to their homes and extorting money from them.

Explaining the circumstances that led him to fleeing the state , Awe said he took the action when the situation turned around.

He noted that the murder case against him and two other members, Sola Adenijo and Sefiu Owonifari, were dropped when it was discovered to be a spurious charge.

The APC boss thanked Governor Ayo Fayose for his magnanimity in withdrawing the charge against him, the action upon which he was acquitted and discharged by the court.

Awe also counselled  leaders and delegates to listen to what the people  are saying in arriving at the choice of flag bearer.

He said Ekiti people are yearning for a change of government having realised that the stomach infrastructure promised by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was a ruse.
