BENUE KILLINGS: The Blood Letting must Stop – Arthur Obi Okafor, SAN, FCIArb,FICM

My sincere condolence goes to the good people and government of Benue State over the recent brutal and senseless killings of harmless Nigerians in five communities of Guma and Logo Local Government of the state, by suspected herdsmen.

It is very unfortunate that at a time when we as a nation should be concentrating on the onerous task of building our economy, and creating peaceful atmosphere for societal growth, some people have resorted to perpetrating violence and unleashing mayhem on the citizenry.

I call on the Federal Government of Nigeria to put an end to this senseless killings across the country, direct the security agencies to trace the sponsors and sources of sophisticated weapons used by these killers and bring them to book.

Human life is sacred and should be protected at all cost by the state. Government should by now live up to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and properties of the citizenry; and make our great country safe for all Nigerians.
