Lawmakers Urge Security Agents to be Proactive
Security agencies deployed to restore peace and order in Plateau State have been urged to step up action.
The Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly, Henry Yunkwap, who said this on the floor of the House, noted that some of the recent deadly attacks in some local councils could have been prevented if the security operatives had been proactive enough.
Yunkwap said that Operation Rainbow, a state security outfit put in place by Jonah David Jang’s administration, would have performed much better because its operatives know all the nooks and crannies of the state and very familiar with the terrains where attacks are likely to occur.
The sitting which was presided over by the speaker, Peter Ajang Azi, resolved that the House would compel the state government to fund security outfits so that it could provide security.
In a related development, the Three Armored Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, has begun its shooting exercise at its Miango Shooting Range in Bassa Local Council of the state.
It is a normal military exercise undertaken to keep the soldiers on the alert always in order to rise to any challenging situations. Members of the public are advised not to panic on seeing movement of heavy military vehicles.
Farmers and herdsmen within the vicinity are also advised to keep off from the shooting range.
