AAUA produces 50 First Class, 9, 812 graduates
Fifty students of the Ondo State owned Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA) would be awarded First Class honours from different courses of study in a combined convocation of the university.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun who was addressing reporters yesterday ahead of the convocation ceremonies of 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 academic sessions said a total of 9,812 graduands would receive various degrees of the institution.
Of 9, 812, Ajibefun said 7,786 belonged to the 2014/2015 session while 2,026 were of the 2015/2016 session. According to him, of 7,624 that earned first degree in the 2014/2015 session, 29 graduated with first class honours, 1,316 bagged second class upper division, 5,183 earned second class lower division while 1,027 had third class honours and 69 got ordinary pass degree. Out of the 2,026 that graduated in the 2015/2016 session, Ajibefun said 21 earned First Class, 609 graduated in second class upper division, 1,151 bagged Second Class Lower Division, 239 got Third Class while six had Pass Degree. In the postgraduate category, Ajibefun said 16 bagged Doctor of Philosophy, (Ph.D), 128 earned Master’s degree while 18 had Postgraduate Diploma in Education, PGDE.
The Vice Chancellor said three prominent Nigerians including the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha would bag honorary degrees of the university. Okorocha, would be conferred with Doctor of Letters (D. Litt.)
