
763,603 Votes to 162,180 – Wike Claims Unbeatable Lead over Awara
The results of the Saturday, March 9, governorship election in Rivers seem to be in favour of Governor Nyesom Wike.

As at Wednesday, April 3, Wike won more local government areas, Ogu/Bolo, Obio Akpor, Asari-Toru and Degema.
The governor is leading with cumulative 763,603 votes ahead of his closest rival, Biopkpomabo Awara of the African Action Congress (AAC) who has 162,180 votes.
Going by the results so far in the collation of results for the Rivers state, on Wednesday, April 3, Governor Nyesom Wike has the edge over his closest rival from the African Action Congress (AAC) Biopkpomabo Awara.
Having claimed local government areas such Ogu/Bolo, Obio Akpor, Asari-Toru and Degema as collated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Governor Wike has more 324 more votes.
This invariably means that Wike’s votes, as opposed to what stood on Tuesday, April 2, increased with 337, 324 more.
Wike is leading with cumulative 763,603 votes, bringing his cumulative gap ahead of Awara with 601,423 votes as his rival has 162,180 total votes.
Earlier, report had it that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had successfully cruised to a comfortable victory in Rivers as the INEC declared candidates of the party winners of the three Senate seats in the state.
PDP’s Senator George Sekibo won Rivers East senatorial seat, Betty Apiafi comfortably won the Rivers west Senate seat, while Barry Mpigi won Rivers Southeast district.
Information gathered that INEC had resumed for the collation of governorship results with emerging report indicating that Governor Wike is leading in 13 out of 15 local government areas announced by INEC so far.
