Many young members of the Branch envinced their support and admiration for Maikyau by driving to the outskirts of the ancient city to welcome him and accompany him in a motorcade into the city and to the venue of the Monthly meeting.
At the meeting, Y. C. had the opportunity to address members on important issues affecting the Bar and the welfare of it’s members, particularly the all-important matter of NBA-NHIS.
In the course of the Meeting, the matriarch of the Bar, Mrs. Folake Solanke, SAN, took the opportunity to thank members of the Bar for the tremendous love shown to her during the celebration of her 90th birthday. She appreciated specially her learned brother of the Silk, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, who had paid special tribute to her in commemoration of her 90th birthday and the Women’s History Month. She encouraged the members to emulate the traditional virtues of the legal profession which are self-evident in Mr. Maikyau.
In all, it was indeed a wonderful time at the Ibadan Branch meeting, as the general warmth and acceptance was palpable.
