We need prayers not congratulatory messages – Odinkalu

Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Professor Chidi Odinkalu, does not see reason to be congratulated for making the 80-man Transition Committee list of Anambra State governor-elect, Chukwuma Soludo.

Soludo Thursday announced the appointment of distinguished intellectuals from different walks of life, but mostly economists, lawyers, engineers, doctors, scholars and political scientists, across the five south east states and Delta, to help chart the roadmap for his era as governor.

Reacting to the appointment and subsequent goodwill messages he said he had received, Odinkalu said he would not mind prayers but definitely not congratulatory messages.

When people get appointed to @NNPCgroup board, you can tell them congratulations because you know their life will be oiled (pun intended). Participating in figuring out how to recover SE (south east) #Nigeria requires all hands on deck & a lot of prayer not congrats, biko nu!” he tweeted.

The Soludo Transition Committee will be chaired by Dr Oby Ezekwesili, former World Bank vice president as well as former Minister of Education, Nigeria.
