A Bauchi Chief Magistrate Court has granted bail to Dr Idris Abdulaziz, the Chief Imam of Dutsen Tanshi Jumaat Mosque who was arraigned for alleged blasphemy and making inciting comments in his sermon.
The magistrate who revealed that he has gone through the case meticulously, said it was ideal to grant the applicant bail as to do otherwise would amount to injustice to him.
Abdulaziz was granted a N1m bail with three sureties in the like sum on Tuesday, May 16. The sureties must be his district head, a permanent secretary in state service, and a renowned Islamic scholar in the state.

The court has adjourned the case till May 24 for hearing.
