The Ekiti State Police Command has arraigned three persons, Ajanaku Lekan, Akingbade Sodiq, and Ajalume Seun, before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court on charges related to theft.
According to the prosecuting officer, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the defendants, along with others still at large, allegedly committed the offence on May 27 at approximately 2:00 pm in Ilawe-Ekiti.
They were accused of stealing a quantity of rice valued at N50,000, belonging to one Oladipo Tope.
Inspector Oriyomi informed the court that the alleged offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 421 and 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
Representing the defendants, Counsel, Adunni Olanipekun applied for bail, which was granted by Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun in the sum of N20,000 each, with one surety in like sum.
The case was subsequently adjourned to July 17 for further hearing.
