Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraha State, weekend, signed into law a N128.58 billion supplementary budget for 2025, along with a N47.12 billion virement earlier approved by the Taraba State House of Assembly.

The new fiscal measure, according to the governor, is designed to address urgent funding gaps in critical sectors, including security, infrastructure, and economic development.

“It also seeks to mitigate the impact of inflation and exchange rate fluctuations on ongoing projects across the state”, Kefas said

According to the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, the supplementary budget will enhance the state’s capacity to tackle emerging economic and security challenges, align expenditures with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), and fast-track priority development initiatives.

With this approval, Taraba State’s total budget size for 2025 has risen to N574.8 billion.

Capital expenditure constitutes 68.9% of the budget, while recurrent expenditure accounts for 31.1%.

The House Committee further urged the state government to prioritize transparency, accountability and prompt release of funds to ensure the effective implementation of the supplementary budget.
