Members of the Surulere Lawyers Forum in a swift and uncommon display of maturity worthy of emulation, resolved the crisis that had threatened its very existence in the past few days. The resolution was achieved at a closed door caucus meeting convened by the Forum’s Patron Chief Abiodun Ogundeji which lasted about two hours. The details of the caucus meeting was not disclosed. However at the General Meeting that followed, the Forum’s Chairman Mr Celestine Okonkwo inaugurated an Electoral Committee with a mandate to conduct election of new officers in Sept.
Tension was doused, peace restored, and members were seen hugging each other and taking group photographs. Mr Seth Amaefule, on behalf of the members who had requisitioned an extra ordinary meeting to dissolve the executive committee, announced the withdrawal of the notice on the agreement that new officers to lead the Forum will be sworn-in at the next General Meeting in Sept 2022.
