Surulere Lawyers’ Forum Kicks off 2022 Law Week With Health Walk

It was a beautiful sight Saturday, 26 November 2022, as members of the Surulere Lawyers’ Forum (SLF) walked the streets of Surulere to kick off her Annual Law Week, starting with the Health Walk.

It was exciting to see lawyers adorned in branded T-shirts as they walked the streets of Surulere for a healthy cause. The event was sponsored by the Friends of the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Mayowa Owolabi.

The organisation behind this year’s SLF Health Walk was highly impressive – from the dexterity of the disc jockey playing a rich sampling of musical favourites, to Mr. Obinna Ezeayim’s eloquent anchoring of the event.

NEWSWIRE Law & Events Magazine correspondent gathered that members of the Forum walked the streets and danced to the pulsating music from the mobile DJ, to the admiration of bystanders and commuters.

The lawyers walked from the Surulere Magistrate’s Court at Bode-Thomas all the way to Babs Animashaun up to Adelabu to Masha. The journey continued on to Ogunlana connecting Akerele Street to Shitta Under-Bridge where the lawyers entered Ogunsanya Street all the way to Bode Thomas and returning to Bishop Kale Street where the Magistrate’s Court is located. After the Walk, the lawyers proceeded to an aerobics session to wind down the activities of the Health Walk.

The Walk for Good Health had in attendance Prince Eddie Njoku, the SLF Chairman; his immediate predecessor, Celestine Okonkwo; Mr. Abiodun Ogundeji, SLF Patron; Chief Mba, SLF Treasurer; Mr. Mayowa Owolabi, Chairman SLF Dinner Committee 2022; Madam Carol Obi, Alternate Chairperson, SLF Dinner; Anene Nwadukwe, SLF Dinner Committe Secretary; Mrs. Sylvia Amugo Umukoro, Mr. Nkem Eke, Mrs. Benita Olejeme, SLF Welfare Officer; Felicia Nosike, SLF Publicity Secretary; Chuka Adimonye, Joy Nzube, Chairperson Otu Okaiwu, Mr. Seth Amaefule, Mr. Godwin Eluu, Mrs. Lilibeth, present SLF Finance Secretary, among many others.

With the Health Walk marking the commencement of the 2022 Law Week, the charity visitation to orphanages and other welfare outreaches to bless the less-privileged in the society are next in line. The Week will culminate with its grand finale, a Dinner at the Marquee Tent at the Eagle Club on Thursday, 1st December 2022 between 6.30 pm and about 10.00 pm the same day.

In conclusion, a key take-away from today’s event is the coordination, the high sense of commitment, the camaraderie and conviviality shown by the SLF Lawyers.

Speaking to our reporters after the event, Mr. Mayowa Owolabi thanked the participants for the impressive turnout, stating that the SLF has shown that her 2022 Law Week is the place to be for any lawyer in Lagos to unwind and network. He enjoined all members of the Forum to participate in all the lined-up activities. He also revealed that the Dinner and Awards Night will be chaired by Dr. Oluwakemi Pinheiro, SAN with Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives billed to be the Special Guest of Honour.
