The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Abubakar Bagudu, has addressed the rising cost of governance in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Speaking on Channels Television on Saturday, former Kebbi governor Abubakar Bagudu acknowledged the concerning cost of governance in Nigeria and revealed that ministers earn less than N1 million monthly.

The call to reduce the cost of governance is among the demands of the protesters.

However, Bagudu noted that the government is aware of these concerns and will continue to engage with citizens to address the nation’s economic challenges.

He said: “The cost of governance is a significant concern, especially for me, as I see how the budget is allocated. We are not yet where we want to be, so any savings are crucial. How are ministers compensated?”
