Pomp and Ceremony as the Nigerian Bar Association Benin Branch (The Lion Bar) Names the NBA Benin Bar House Hall after former Chief Judge of Edo State, The Hon. Justice Costance A.R. Momoh (Retired) CFR.

It was Ritz and Glitz as Dignitaries from all walks of Life gathered at the prestigious NBA Benin Bar House for the Epoch Making Event of the naming of the Hall of the NBA Benin Bar House after the benevolent former Chief Judge of Edo State the Hon. Justice Constance A. Rakiya Momoh CFR, in honour of My Lord’s contribution to the Bar which include, but is not limited to the facilitation of the ceding of the Land where the NBA Benin Bar House is situate by the Edo State Judiciary, when My Lord was the Chief Judge of Edo State.

It was a roll call of the movers and shakers of the Society in General like Nigeria’s Former Minister of Information-Prince Tony Momoh, the Iyalode of Lagos, Hajia Tinubu, Chief Akinbami and the Judiciary in particular at the Ceremony as the Master of Ceremony at the event -Pius Oiwoh Esq., did a splendid job, announcing the dignitaries present seamlessly and ex tempore.

From the Representative of the Chief Justice of Nigeria-Justice Tanko Mohammed-a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Sule Galadinma, Justice Halima Akinbanmi of the Court of Appeal and the Honourable, The Chief Judge of Edo State, My Lord, the Honourable Justice Esther Amenaganmwon Edigin F.I.C.M.C,who incidentally was the Chief Registrar of the Edo State Judiciary at the time the Land where the Bar House is situate was ceded to the Benin Bar ,the Judiciary was fully represented to honour one of its own who distinguished himself while in Detvice and imprinted his footprints in the sands of time .

Also present at the Event were the Hon.Justice J.A. Acha ,the Hon Justice Efe Ikpomwoba,the Hon Justice E.U. Ahamaoje,The Hon Justice Eramah ,the Hon.Justice H.A. Courage Ogbebor , the Hon Justice Uwuigbe ,the Hon.Justice V.O.A. Oviawe ,the Hon Justice Omotosho, all of the Edo State Judiciary and two retired Justices of the Edo State High Court-Justice A N. Ehigiamusoe and Justice Edodo Eruaga.

The star studded ceremony also had in attendance three Senior Advocates of Nigeria- O.A. Omonuwa SAN ,K.E. Mozia SAN and H.O. Ogbodu SAN .

Also present at the glamorous event in the floridly decorated Hall were seven Former Chairmen of the Nigerian Bar Association Benin Branch,Benin Branch -the Lion Bar,to wit:H.O. Ogbodu SAN ,
K.E. Mozia SAN,K O.Obamogie Esq.,,Solomon Odiase Esq., Dele Abina Esq.,Princess P.I. Iyomon and Ede Asenoguan Esq.

The Chief Judge of Edo State,The Hon. Justice Esther Amenaganmwon Edigin F.I.C.M.C, who chaired the Occasion and who was incidentally was the Chief Registrar of the Edo State Judiciary,at the time the Land where the Bar House is situate was ceded by the Edo State Judiciary to the Benin Bar , extolled the enviable records of the Honouree -the Hon. Justice CAR Momoh (Rted. ) CFR ,while in Service at the Edo State Judiciary and beyond and she jokily stated that while Justice Constance Momoh gave the Benin Bar the Land where the Bar House is situate ,she gave the Benin Bar uninterrupted Power Supply,alluding to the current Chief Judge’s Kind Gesture of approving with out much ado,the connection of the NBA Benin Bar House to the Electricity Line that has almost 24 Hours Power Supply ,Which the High Court uses

The Chairman of the Lion Bar -Prince Collins Benson Ogiegbaen AICMC-The Chief Host, in his moving Citation of the Honoree – the Hon.Justice Constance .A.R. , Momoh (Retired) CFR ,poured deserved encomiums on her ,calling her among other apt nomenclature depicting her character “The Queen of the Judiciary in Edo State .

In comments by Judges and other Senior Members of the Bar present at the occasion ,there was a symmentry of thoughts as they all agreed on the benevolence of the Honoree,her penchant for merit in all her endeavours and her fairness in her dealings with all and sundry.

The highpoint of the Occasion was the unveiling of the plague symbolizing the Naming of the NBA Benin Bar House Hall ,Which is now tagged “Justice Constance Momoh Hall” .The unveiling was supervised by the Chief Judge of Edo State,Hon. Justice E.A. Edigin F.I.C.M.C. and a representative of the Chief Justice of Nigeria -Justice Sule Galadima (JSC) as he then was ).

There was a lavish reception at the House of the Honoree later to mark her 80th Birthday.

Members of the Benin led by the Lion Chairman-Prince Colins Ogiegbaen AICMC, later proceeded to the Lavish and colourful Socials of the Obsequies in Honour of the Mother of Edward Aibangbee Esq.,- a former National Financial Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association and a former Secretary of the NBA Benin Branch,that held at the Crescent Sports Club, Irhirhi, Benin City, Which was well attended by dignitaries from varied stratas of Society.
