The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, has announced a deadline for the enforcement of third-party insurance for vehicle owners.
Egbetokun said that the force has set February 1, 2025, as the commencement date for the enforcement.
The IGP disclosed this while receiving the Commissioner for Insurance, National Insurance Commission, NAICOM, Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, and his team in Abuja on Friday.
ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, made this known in a statement on Friday, saying that the IGP also used the opportunity to urge Nigerians to comply with the laws.
Adejobi stated that the NAICOM commissioner congratulated the IGP on his significant achievements, particularly the establishment of the Police Insurance Company Limited.
Omosehin also requested the police’s support in the nationwide enforcement of compulsory third-party insurance, stressing that it provides substantial benefits to all road users.
