‘Judicial Independence; a Recipe for True Democracy in Nigeria’ is the theme of this year’s Law Week of the Ado-Ekiti branch of the NBA. The week-long event spans through 25th April to 1st of May 2022.
Mr Ede Asenoguan’s goodwill message to the Ado-Ekiti branch on account of the above occasion reads as follows:
” The Chairman, Executive and Branch Members of Ado-Ekiti Branch,
Permit me to use this medium in conveying my thoughts and good wishes on the occasion of your Annual Law Week for 2022 themed:
‘Judicial Independence; a Recipe for True Democracy in Nigeria’.
The Law Week affords every branch the opportunity to draw from the well of resourcefulness with a view to promoting the cause of the branch and ultimately stand firm in defending the nation’s values.
This year’s event with the said theme perfectly answers to that description; to the effect that the starting point of true democracy is an unfettered judiciary; an umpire blind to interests and biases, but led by the hand by the core dictates of the rule of law.
You have chosen a theme undisputably relevant in the sad reality of our nation’s democracy; battered and left sparsely attended to by a beleaguered judiciary. We can only hope that constant reminders in the form of your apposite Law weeks like yours will engender in our dear nation the true values of democracy championed by a truly independent and self sufficient judiciary.
I wish you a resourceful Law Week celebration.
Thank you and God bless”
