Organise national dialogue to tackle insecurity, PDP urges FG

The Peoples Democratic Party has urged the Federal Government to organise a national dialogue to address the security challenges plaguing the country.

Last week, bombings by terrorists in Tashan Mararaba, Gwoza town, Borno State, resulted in the deaths of at least 18 people.

Additionally, suspected armed militias assaulted Ayati and Borikyo in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State on Wednesday, leaving six residents dead and several others injured.

Responding to the renewed attacks in Borno and Benue State, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Ibrahim Abdullahi, characterised them as a consequence of a flawed system.

He stated, “It is fallout of a defective system, this has been the crux of the argument all along. We have been saying, and continue to say, that these officials do not appreciate the immense responsibility of their positions, whether it’s the Office of the President, Senate President, or other offices they occupy. Taking office unprepared leads to policies and actions that defy common sense and are detrimental to the public interest.

“Policies from the APC often lack informed decisions that truly represent the people. For instance, withdrawing fuel subsidy at the inauguration ceremony only exacerbated rooftop inflation, leading to hunger, poverty, and increased insecurity.”
