NBA Women Forum Condemns Attack on Peaceful and Unarmed #EndSARS Protesters
The last one week has been a time of deep reflection as Nigerian youths carried out peaceful protests with #ENDSARS #ENDPOLICE BRUTALITY.
With a heavy heart however, we all have witnessed the disturbing events surrounding the wanton massacre of #ENDSARS Nigerian youths, on Tuesday 20th October 2020. This day will forever be a stain on our democracy and the rule of law.
The NBAWF condemns in its entirety the unprecedented and unconscionable use of extreme force meted against unarmed Nigerian youths who were in a peaceful protest – a protest which is a right of every Nigerian citizen to undertake.
We demand that the killings stop forthwith and immediate steps are taken by the government to investigate these atrocious acts of violence and murder and bring to book all those involved in this mayhem.
We also urge the government to take urgent steps to engage with all stakeholders through peaceful dialogue, with a view to ensuring a restoration of the rule of law, trust in governance and nation building.
We commiserate with the families of all the young patriots whose lives have been needlessly cut short and who have paid the ultimate price in defence of our dear democracy.
We pray that the Lord in His infinite wisdom will comfort them in these trying times.
