All is now set for the much anticipated NBA Lagos 2023 Law Week! The Planning Committee led by the dynamic Wale Adesokan SAN, has meticulously put together a lineup of events that will leave attendees and participants captivated and greatly enriched.
The traditional event will kick off with the Press Conference, hosted at the prestigious Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus), Victoria Island on Friday June 16th, 2023, at 10AM. The excitement will continue as we gather for the Jumat Service at 1PM, at the iconic Central Mosque on Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, Lagos Island. This session will be anchored by our esteemed Mr. Omoyemi Lateef Akangbe, immediate past Chairman, NBA Lagos Branch.
The day wouldn’t end without the signature-Chairman’s Welcome Cocktail to welcome attendees and set the tone for the week-long event. The cocktail will take place on Friday, June 16th, 2023, at 6PM, at the Dinning Hall of the Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus) Victoria Island.
On Saturday, June 17th, 2023, at 7AM will be time for a refreshing Health Walk with the theme: #WalkForAVisionaryNigeria. Whilst emphasizing the need for a healthy living, we also carry on social responsibility through our walk, where we sensitize members of the public. At sundown, it will be time to witness an adrenaline-fueled Friendly Football Match between the Premier Branch and VFD Microfinance Bank at 4PM. The arena shall be the Methodist Boys High School. There will also be, Board Games and other competitions to keep guests, spectators and attendees entertained.
Sunday, June 18th, 2023, is set aside for the Thanksgiving Service at the majestic Our Saviour’s Cathedral Church TBS at 9AM. This session will be Led by the charismatic Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, and the dynamic Chairman of the Law Week Planning Committee, Mr. Wale Adesokan SAN, this holy experience will leave you inspired. All lawyers attending are required to be fully robed for this outing.
On Monday and Tuesday, June 19th & 20th, 2023, will be time for the Plenary Sessions. A rich faculty has been put together for this segment of the Law Week. They will discussing topics and sub-topics under the theme: “Facing The Future: Law In A Globalized Economy”. Not less than fifty (50) members of faculty drawn from different sectors of the economy have been assembled for this year’s law week. With a total of nine (9) plenary sessions lined up. The keynote Address for this year’s Law Week shall be delivered by Mr. Herbert Wigwe CON, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Holding Plc.
In the midst of all the intellectual exercises, we will also find the time on Wednesday June 21st for Health Check on members and attendees. Free medical checks will be available for attendees at the Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus) Victoria Island. Also, in keeping with our social responsibilities as an Association of repute, the Law Week train shall simultaneously embark on Charity Visitation at the Children’s Centre Idiaraba, Mushin, Lagos and Island Maternity Hospital, Lagos island, Lagos. Lastly, there will be Manifesto Day at 2PM, by the Electoral Committee of the branch. Cleared candidates for the forthcoming NBA Lagos Branch elections and their teeming supporters will have their day on that day.
Join us on Thursday, June 22nd, 2023, as we turn our attention on our New Wig Induction & Career Fair holding at the Dinning Hall, Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus), Victoria Island, Lagos at 9AM. Young Members of the branch/profession are encouraged to seize this opportunity as they look to advance their careers. The New Wig Committee of the Branch has put together highly resourceful and accomplished individuals both within and outside the legal profession for the mentorship sessions and career talks.
Saving the best for last, get ready to experience the pinnacle of excitement at the 2023 Casino Rayale-theme Closing Party slated Friday, June 23rd at the Nigerian Law School (Lagos Campus), Victoria Island, Lagos. The doors open at 7PM. Dress code for gents, black tie and for the ladies, your evening dress. The keyword is elegance. To spice things up for the night, we shall be having special performance by our guest artiste of the night. Other side attractions include: the Lagos Branch Raffle Draw with lots exciting prizes to be won, undisclosed DJ, Hypeman, comedians, comediennes, dancers and other entertainers. Never a party like the Lagos Party! When we party, we go hard. As we party, there will be a tantalizing array of edibles and alluring cocktails to refresh us. You do not want to miss this party.
