It is immense joy that I congratulate three of our fathers, mentors, teachers, builders, quintessential Bar men and leaders at the Enugu Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in the persons of Chief Anthony Okoye Mogboh, SAN; Chief E. E. J. Okereke; and Ichie L. M. E. Ezeofor, Life Bencher, on the Award of Long Standing at the Bar, recently conferred on them by the Branch.
Sirs, this is an occasion for both rejoicing and sober reflection as regards our stewardship as lawyers. As we celebrate a well-deserved acknowledgement of your contributions to the growth of the Bar, and the NBA Enugu Branch in particular, we also pause to examine our commitment and dedication to the noble profession, to which we have sworn our life-long fidelity.
There is no denying the influence of Chief A. O Mogboh SAN; Chief E. E. J. Okereke and Ichie L. M. E. Ezeofor on the growth of law and practice throughout their respective careers over the years, nor their positive impact on younger lawyers through mentorship, training and encouragement, as testified to by our learned silk, Anthony Ani SAN in his remarks. Through these men, many have achieved their desired goals, both in practice and in life.
I also wish to use this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciations to the Chairman of the NBA Enugu Branch, Jude Ezegwui, Esq. and his Executive Committee for thinking out of the box in putting up this uncommon celebration of our elders during their lifetimes.
Truly, the Enugu Bar is SECUDUS NULUS (Second to None)
