A 34-year-old man, John Agbo has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court sitting in the Ogba area of Lagos State, on Thursday, for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl, with his finger in the Orile-Iganmu area of Lagos State.
Magistrate E. Kubenje made the order after the defendant, who is facing one count of s3xual assault preferred against him by the police, was arraigned.
The police prosecutor, Kehinde Ajayi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2022.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is punishable under Section 2641 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The charge read, “That you, John Agbo, sometime in the year 2022, at No. 9, Ogunsanya Street, Orile-Iganmu Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did s3xually penetrate a six-year-old girl by inserting your finger inside her v*gina and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
Magistrate E. Kubenje did not take the plea of the defendant.
The case was adjourned till May 30, 2023.
