The notion of young wigs as the ‘future leaders’ of the Nigerian Bar has more than not been paid more lip service to than taken seriously by older and more established legal practitioners.

However, there’s always an exception to every rule – in form of the senior who gives his junior colleagues their due, and indeed identifies with their aspirations as well as their trials and tribulations. They literally put their money where their mouth is as far their engagement with younger lawyers goes.

Y. C. Maikyau, a foremost lawyer and Bar leader extraordinaire, belongs in this latter category, and he demonstrated this on Sunday, November 6, 2021 at an informal breakfast meeting with young lawyers at the grounds of the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.

NEWSWIRE Law and Events Magazine correspondent in Lagos reports that it was an occasion for rubbing of minds and sharing of knowledge and ideas on their individual and corporate practices, the state of the legal profession in particular, and the nation as a whole – as well as a veritable networking session that greatly benefitted the younger lawyers in no small way.
