Legal Year: Kogi CJ to Ensure Speedy Justice

The acting Chief Judge of Kogi State Justice Henry Olusiyi has stated that the judiciary will focus mainly on the speedy, efficient and effective administration of justice in the 2020 to 2021 Legal Year.

Justice Olusiyi said this during a Special Court Session to usher in the new Legal Year yesterday in Lokoja.

He said that the resolution was based on the fact that, “Justice delayed” might sometimes be “Justice denied.”

“It is based on the realisation that Justice rushed could also result in Justice crushed. We will always strive to strike a balance between the two possibilities.”

The jurist said that the judiciary would also introduce mechanisms to “fast-track” proceedings and ensure that cases, especially criminal ones, were not delayed.

“We shall ensure that our correctional centres are decongested. Efforts will be geared towards the automation of our court processes for quick, efficient and effective Justice Delivery.
