The trio of Messrs Osaro Eghobamien, SAN, Tolu Aderemi and Hon. Justice A. O. Faji were among the participants at the 2024 edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon on February 10, 2024. Of the three, though, only Mr. Eghobamien, SAN, did the actual running while the other two were on hand to receive him at the finish line.
But while some runners were in it to win one of the prizes on offer, others were in it as part of their health regimen, and yet others for the sheer fun of it, the three legal titans were participating in the event as part of their efforts to highlight the objectives of the #Run4Justice initiative.
NEWSWIRE Law & Events Magazine reports that the #Run4Justice initiative is an annual event organized by the law firm of Perchstone and Graeys LP as part of its bid to highlight the need for fundamental and far-reaching reforms in the Nigerian criminal justice system. As the name implies, the #Run4Justice advocacy is also in the form of a run under the aegis of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.
Mr Osaro Eghobamien, SAN participated in the 10km category of the marathon, which along with the entire 42km stretch, was a demonstration of endurance, dedication and discipline on the part of the runners – which are the same attributes required to evoke positive changes in the Nigerian justice delivery system.
These qualities were amply demonstrated by the eventual winner of the race, Kenya’s Bernard Sang, who walked away with the $50,000 prize money. Other winners also received various sums.
