The body of a kidnapped Nigerian government official, Shamsideen Abayomi Alamu, is missing days after he was killed.

He was the Assistant Chief Surveyor in the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGoF).

Abayomi was abducted on October 3 near Yakwo Farms in Abaji while returning to Abuja from Iwo after attending a wedding ceremony.

Head of Press OSGoF, Abu Michael said the late official was taken alongside his mother and 7-year old son (Abdulhaq Alamu).

The trio were in a Toyota Corolla with registration number RSH 661NY when the assailants emerged from the bush and shot at them.

Michael confirmed that Abayomi was murdered on October 6 while his mum and son regained freedom the next day.

In a statement on Tuesday, the spokesperson informed the public that efforts were on to find the body.

“On receiving the news of his abduction, the Surveyor General of the Federation, Abudulganiyu Adebomehin and his management team swooped into action.

“The Office reliably gathered that he was killed on Thursday before the release of his mother and son on Friday through the intervention of family members, friends and other relatives.”

Michael added that security agencies were working towards recovering Abayomi’s remains and urged cirizens to provide useful information to the police.

The OSGoF regrets the loss of the 2021 Head of Civil Service Award Winner and a “mapping maestro” of its Photogrammetry and Remote-Sensing Department.

After her release, the mother, Alhaja Afusat Alamu revealed that the gunmen demanded N50million but only N2.35million was raised which the captors collected.

Abayomi, an indigene of Iwo in Osun State, was recruited into the Federal Civil Service on December 9, 2013.
