Kaduna Chapter: ASUU joins NLC Warning Strike

The Kaduna State University Chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has directed its members to join the ongoing notice strike by public sector workers in Kaduna State.

Dr Peter Adamu, ASUU Chairperson, sent the directive in a memorandum to union members on Monday.

Adamu reminded members that ASUU is an associate of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and that ASUU principal officers were members of the NLC National Executive Council that decided on the strike action.

“Also, members who break the strike action should be aware that the union will not be there for them when the governor’s wrath comes on them,” he added.

He went on to say that ASUU must band together for a just cause because an injury to one is an injury to all.

Recall that the NLC National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, had claimed that the five-day strike would continue until the state government addressed the workers’ grievances.

All economic activities in Kaduna State came to a halt on Monday, according to Newswire, as the NLC protested the sacking of civil servants by the Governor Nasir El-Rufai-led administration.
Banks, gas stations, restaurants, markets, and other economic operations stayed closed in full accordance with the NLC’s directive.
