The transmission station of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) PLC on Tuesday evening was engulfed by fire which lasted several hours into the night.
The inferno at station, located at Mile 7, Zaria road was later put out with the combined efforts of men of the fire service.
Much of Jos city remained in total blackout Tuesday night but after a few hours, power was restored to communities in Jos north.
The management of the distribution company in a statement appealed to its teeming customers in Plateau, Gombe and Bauchi States not to despair as a result of the power outage.

It adding that, “a team of engineers have been mobilized to the scene of the incident with the view to restoring power within the shortest possible time.”
The statement which was issued by the head of Corporate Communication, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah attributed the outage to a fire incident at the kilometer 7 transmission station, Zaria road -Jos.
He regretted the inconveniences being suffered by customers in the affected areas.
JED PLC provides electricity for Plateau, Gombe, Bauchi and Benue States.
