The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has warned Ndigbo, both home and abroad to desist from celebrating Nigeria’s 64th Independence.
IPOB warned that the Nigerian flag will not fly, there will be no Independence Day activities for students, and businessmen should go about their lawful activities in the Southeast tomorrow.
In a statement signed by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB’s Directorate of State cautioned Igbos against celebrating Nigerian Independence because Biafra would soon be actualized.

We are aware that some prominent Igbo men and women played pivotal roles in securing the independence that Nigeria celebrates annually every October 1st.
“Biafran should reject this Nigerian forced unity as we look forward to celebrating the Biafra independence soon.
“Ndigbo must adhere to this clarion call to stop every activity concerning Nigeria independence tomorrow. There shall be no flying of Nigerian flags in Biafra territory. There shall be no independence activity for students in Biafra land. Everyone should go about their businesses or use that Day for family quality time and rest at home for those who may chose not to go for their work and business”.
Meanwhile, the Imo State Police Command in conjunction with sister security agencies in the state has deployed a water tight security details and personnels across the state.
According to the Commands Spokesperson, Henry Okoye, was to keep the state safe and residents to have a peaceful independence Day celebration.
He said that in response to alleged threats by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militia group Eastern Security Network (ESN) to cause unrest on that day, the command has put modalities in place to curtail any attacks or threat to peace in the state.
He said: “As part of this strategy, joint patrols and confidence-building measures are actively underway.
“These operations are designed to deter criminal activities and reassure citizens that they can go about their daily lives without fear.
In response to recent threats from the proscribed IPOB/ESN militia group, the Police Command has established robust security measures to address any potential risks
