The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will announce the locations of newly established polling units next week.
According to the commission, this will occur prior to the start of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
INEC had started expanding existing polling locations across the country in order to increase voter access and reduce indifference during elections.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, Chairman of INEC, made the announcement yesterday in Abuja, when the Federal Fire Service (FFS) presented the commission with a fire engine.
“We previously guaranteed Nigerians that we would complete work on expanding voter access to polling units and make the new polling units available to people ahead of the CVR exercise,” he said.
“I am pleased to inform that for the first time in 25 years, we have completed this work.
Next week, a detailed list of the new polling units will be issued.
Similarly, after a series of monthly consultation sessions with stakeholders next week, specifics on the locations of the registration centers and the procedure for the start of online registration will be made available.”
On the donation of the fire engine, the INEC chairman hailed the FFS, saying 18 incidents out of the 42 attacks on the commission’s facilities, resulted from arson.
