Indian authorities have deported a Nigerian man, Geoffrey Dozieobiibe, for allegedly residing illegally in the country since 2019.

According to the Times of India, the Hyderabad task force arrested Dozieobiibe last Thursday for allegedly entering India through Nepal without valid travel documents.

The 33-year-old reportedly migrated to India by road through Nepal in 2019 without a passport or visa and was also linked to drug peddling activities.

Police in Hyderabad and Bangalore said he was apprehended after moving suspiciously within the Tolichowki Police Station area.

Authorities immediately initiated deportation proceedings, stating that his continued presence in India posed a risk of further involvement in drug-related activities.

Although no drugs were found in his possession, his identity and travel history were verified with the assistance of anti-drug agencies.

An emergency travel certificate was subsequently obtained from the Nigerian Embassy to facilitate his deportation.
