A Divisional Police Officer (DPO), eight other police officers, and two Yan Sa-Kai operatives (vigilantes) were killed by bandits in Kebbi State, according to police.
On Sunday, they were all killed in a gunfight in Sakaba Local Government Areas.
DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, the Police Public Relations Officer, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident happened about 14:30 hours.
The bandits attacked the villages of Dankolo, Sakaba, Makuku, Dokar Kambari, and Kurmin Hodo in Sakaba LGA.
The perpetrators were said to have taken casualties as well.
Salisu Adamu, a resident, said, “They killed DPO Jimoh Abdullahi, police officers, and two ‘Yan sa Kais.”

Thousands of cattle were taken from the villages of Dankolo, Sakaba, Makuku, Dokar Kambari, and Kurmin Hodo, according to him.
“They began firing periodically, causing the villagers to run in separate directions for safety.”
Another Dirin Daji resident, Husseini Bala, confirmed that the police officers went missing after the attack.
