Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has expressed dissatisfaction with the implementation of the State Ramadan Feeding Programme.

During a surprise visit to one of the centers in the Municipal Local Government Area, the governor expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of food being prepared and packaged for the people.

Alleging sabotage in the exercise, he questioned the quality and quantity of food he saw as against the one approved by the government.

Lifting a packed food in a nylon, he said, “Look at this nonsense, who gave you materials to cook? Don’t let me come back and see this repeat itself. I couldn’t sleep because of the news I have been getting about this exercise.”

“We will not accept dishonesty and mismanagement of public resources. It is imperative to note that the allocated funds for this initiative are meticulously documented at each center.”

He instructed his Chief of Staff, Shehu Wada Sagagi, to monitor the situation closely and provide daily updates.

There was widespread criticism of the state’s Ramadan Feeding Programme, with N6 billion allocated for the initiative. Many voiced concerns about inefficiencies in the project designed for the holy month of Ramadan.

Some argued that the program was unnecessary, suggesting that the funds could have been allocated to more impactful projects.

In the meantime, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano demanded that the NNPP-led government justify the expenditure of N6 billion on this year’s Ramadan feeding program.

The Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, called on Governor Abba Yusuf to account for the expenditure of the funds.

He issued this challenge during the commencement of the distribution of relief items to APC leaders and supporters in Dawakin Kudu.

The distributed relief items included 10 bags of 50kg millet for each of the 484 wards. Additionally, 5,840 bags of rice, 1,600 bags of millet, and 2,000 cartons of spaghetti were distributed to APC supporters and other residents of the state.
