The hangout in Asaba, Delta State organized by G. A. I. MOWAH and Friends of Y. C. Maikyau, SAN in honour of the Learned Silk can best be described as a Wow Event! The hangout was well-attended by leaders of the several branches of NBA in Delta State and lawyers from several parastatals. Only a man of true honor will attract a wide range of persons.
While addressing the Learned Silk, G. A. I. MOWAH, Esq noted that Asaba Branch has only received one person who has come forward, and not from behind, to visit the branches in Delta State as seen that night, with heavy representations from several branches across Delta State. He appreciated His Lordship, T. I. Makwe (Rtd) from whose office he started his practice. He extolled the virtues of his Principal and expressed his gratitude to his Lordship for making him who he is today.
Some of the other Bar Leaders who made comments on the personality of Mr. Maikyau, SAN and his capacity to lead the Bar were the Chairman of Warri Branch, Chief Emmanuel Uti; the Chairman of LOAN Asaba, Mr. Onigara; the Chairman Ugheli Branch, Matthew Osume; the Chairperson of FIDA Asaba, Mrs Stella- Maris Mejulu; Chairman of the Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) Asaba Branch, U. A. J. Aki.
In response to the August event, the Learned Silk Mr. Maikyau started by appreciating His Lordship, Hon. Justice T. I. Makwe (Rtd) who he congratulated for serving both the Bar and Bench exceptionally well. He continued: “it is a very humbling moment for me My Lord, but simply permit me to start by saying thank you. You are an Epitome of success and excellence personified. For those of you here, I say this in no pretentious terms, anywhere you see my Lord, you are looking at mentorship walking, driving and speaking and that is why you are being celebrated today. What I see is the transfer of excellence from one generation to another which is something we rarely see in our society today. To input such confidence in a young lawyer, you must be very intentional which is something you have done seamlessly. There are stories that it is difficult in legal practice, but I am saying to the younger ones that there is hope. Do not listen to the saying that things are not working well. I congratulate you sir because what you have done is not for you alone, but for others to grow. Your gratitude will be rewarded according to the integrity of your heart. My Lord I want to thank you again because you have given us courage to go out and speak for mentorship. And for everyone who took the liberty to appreciate I and my team today,we thank you.”
Some of the Dignitaries who graced the Hangout were: Hon. Justice T. I. Makwe ( Rtd); Chairman Warri Branch, Chief Emmanuel Uti; Chairman Ughelli Branch, Matthew Osume; Chairman Udu Branch, Patrick Mekako; Chairman Sapele Branch, S. C. Odoh; Chairman Ugwashi Branch, F.
