Former Shooting Stars chair, Olaiwola Lakondoro, dies aged 111

A former chairman of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Ibadan, Pa Olayiwola Lakondoro, reportedly died on Thursday at the age of 111 years.

The 3SC Chairman, Babatunde Olaniyan, confirmed his death to the News Agency of Nigeria in a telephone interview in Ibadan.

Olaniyan said that the club have been notified of the passing of the former chairman and is already planning to pay the deceased family a visit.

During World War II, Lakondoro joined the Colonial Army in 1939 which took him to Scotland, India, and Trimia.

Until his death, Pa Lakondoro was the only surviving member of Nigeria Footballers, named UK Tourists, who travelled to Britain and played barefoot, and also the oldest 3SC fan and undoubtedly the oldest football fan in Nigeria.
