A former President of the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA), Mr Okey Wali who was kidnapped along the East-West Road in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State in the early hours of Monday 17th of April, 2023, has been released.
Though details of his release are sketchy, a reliable source in the NBA who is also close to the family confirmed that he was released this morning.
Recall that the NBA President, Y. C. Maikyau, OON, SAN had made a passionate appeal to the kidnappers to release Mr Wali, SAN soon after the incident, and had followed up with a visit to Wali’s Rivers State family home, where a prayer session was held for his safe release. Thereafter, he visited the Rivers State Commissioner of Police who assured him that all is being done to ensure the safe release of the learned Silk.
