The federal government has announced the conditions to lift its indefinite suspension on Nigeria Twitter
At a meeting with select envoys on Monday, Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama informed journalists of this.
Twitter’s operations in Nigeria will be reinstated only if the platform can be utilised “responsibly,” according to Onyeama.
He also stated that the federal government has never stated that Twitter is a threat to the country and that the platform’s suspension was done to prevent it from being used to destabilise the country.
Onyeama, on the other hand, stated that there is no set date for the restriction to be lifted.
“We’re not claiming that Twitter is a threat to the country or anything like that.

‘The reason we took this action is to prevent them from being used as platforms for destabilisation, facilitation, or support of criminality,” he explained.
Recall that Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, had said that Twitter would no longer be able to operate in the country.
The suspension, he added, was due to the platform’s continued use for actions that could jeopardise Nigeria’s business existence.
