Wife of River State Governor, Justice Eberechi Wike, has advised female lawyers not to see themselves as inferior to their male counterparts.

Justice Wike spoke at a session held by the Women Forum at the ongoing African Bar Association Annual Conference in Port Harcourt.
The Rivers State governor’s wife said, “single female lawyers must choose their spouse carefully as making wrong choices about a partner can cause depression or have repercussions in the progress of their career or profession. There are men who just want to depend on you. Some will use and dump you.”
She emphasized that women must continue to improve themselves academically and must not make excuses at their workplace. “A woman must have a clear idea of where she’s going and what she want in life. No one should be static. Upgrade education and improve your capacity to earn more. Do something to elevate your status and never stop learning because learning is a continuous process. You can be enlightened even by listening to the news and reading daily newspapers.”
Justice Wike said, some women work not because of money but because they want to look and feel good, and they also want to contribute their little to the society and their families. Women should learn not to invest only in jewelry because it’s an investment that wouldn’t last in years to come.
Mrs. Wike was of the opinion that women should not limit themselves. “Every woman ought to be engaged because it would improve their health and also earn them respect from their male counterparts.”
